We transform English-speaking, low-literate adults, who live in Salt Lake or Davis Counties in Utah, into skilled, passionate, habitual, critical readers, writers, and mathematicians. We also educate community volunteers to work one-on-one or in group settings with these adult learners. For more information, see www.LiteracyActionCenter.org. Literacy Action Center's 2015 Benefit
Pilar Pobil shares a piece from her work, too. And, Jane Beckwith shares a bit about the new visitor's center at Topaz, the Utah internment camp.
But we aren't stopping there. The delicious edibles, such as inari sushi and gyoza dumplings, are sponsored by Makiko's Japanese-style Daycare Center - definitely not your ordinary day care fare.
Imagine nibbling these delicate morsels on china plates in a late spring garden. The china, cloth napkins, and all the other accouterments that add elegance and sparkle to any outdoor event are being donated for the evening by Blue Bird Vintage Rentals.
